Activities for ADHD Students
Excelsior Academy Private High School offers interactive courses that helps students with ADHD increase self-confidence and reduce stress. These courses include Art and Mixed Martials Arts. In our Mixed Martial Arts class, students are taught self-defense and perform cardio exercises to help build focus and discipline. The physical activity allows students with ADHD to express themselves when they may be unable to do so organically. Additionally, research has proven that students with ADHD benefit from physical activity as it proves to be a stress reliever.
Art is also an effective class that Excelsior Academy Private School students with ADHD can take. With optional art classes, a student is able to focus in on a drawing and train his/her mind to concentrate on a particular activity. This method of brain training then translates into the classroom environment where students can implement these concentration techniques to complete in-class activities.
